Staff

Executive Director
David Fidanque, on staff since 1982, is the chief spokesperson and press liaison for the ACLU of Oregon. Sets policy and direction for the ACLU of Oregon after consulting with the ACLU of Oregon Board of Directors and National ACLU policy. Oversees staff and volunteers and all programs, including Litigation, Legislation and Education.

Development Director
Gail Anderson, CFRE, joined the staff in 2011 and  directs all aspects of our fundraising program, including membership, the annual giving campaign, Liberty Dinner and planned giving opportunities. 

Outreach and Office Coordinator
Sarah Armstrong joined the staff in September 2010. She combines volunteer coordination and community outreach work with managing office operations.

Associate Director/Litigation Coordinator
Jann Carson, on staff since 1986, assists the Executive Director in overall administration and management of programs, staffing and volunteers.

Legal Director
Kevin Díaz joined the staff in May 2010 and manages all aspects of the Litigation Program.

Development & Communications Associate
Teresa Domka, on staff since 2006, assists with various aspects of the development program. She also works with staff to coordinate online and print communications.

Program Associate for Racial Justice
Bonnie Souza, on staff since 1996, assists in Litigation, Legislation and Education programs in the ACLU of Oregon Southern District office. Her duties emphasize race and multicultural issues related to both the external and internal work of the organization.

Legislative Director
Becky Straus joined the staff in 2011 and directs ACLU’s advocacy and lobbying efforts before the Oregon Legislature and coordinates ACLU testimony before public bodies on the full range of civil liberties and civil rights issues in Oregon. She is also ACLU’s primary lobbyist on City of Portland matters.

Fiscal Manager
Stephanie Van Zuiden, on staff since 1999, manages all fiscal transactions, financial reporting and annual audit reviews.
