Emily joins the ACLU of Oregon after six years working in international human rights and humanitarian law. A student of political science and Arabic, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies at Santa Clara University, Emily earned her law degree from Stanford Law School in 2020. She returned to Portland at the beginning of the pandemic and spent dozens of nights as a legal observer documenting police brutality during Portland’s Black Lives Matter protests. Emily brings tenacious research skills and legal analysis to the ACLU’s policy team. Outside of work, Emily is a dedicated dog mom to her rescue pups Ché and Rosa, a devourer of books, and baker of goods.
