Call for Artists

The ACLU of Oregon is looking to collaborate with local artists on upcoming projects! These are paid opportunities, ranging from $1,000 — $2,000 per project, taking place September 2024 through January 2025.

Potential Projects:

  • Vibrant illustrations reflecting the state of Oregon's beauty, including nature, trees, flowers, animals and critters, community members, etc.
  • Trauma-informed illustrations specific to some of our issue areas such as: protecting the rights of our houseless neighbors, dismantling the criminal legal system (jails, prisons, police), and advancing immigrants' rights
  • Dynamic illustrations of ACLU of Oregon work and community in action, including protestors, lawyers, legal documents, and refreshed commonly used symbols to the ACLU brand such as scales, gavels, fists, etc.
  • We are also interested in working with comicbook storytellers with lived experience with any of our issue/work areas!

Email us by Monday, August 12 and tell us about yourself, your process and style, and the projects and issue areas you're interested in. We’d love to see your portfolio or examples of your work as well! For full transparency, here is our typical agreement with independent contractors.

If you don’t see a project you’re particularly interested in or the timing just isn’t right, email us to let us know! We’d still love to hear from you and that you’d be interested in collaborating in the future!

Let us know you're interested!
