Oregon Center for Incarcerated Mothers and Their Children – HB 3300 (2019)
Family unity should be at the forefront of the state’s goal when recognizing and addressing the collateral consequences incarceration has on children.
Our policy team is a constant presence in Salem and local municipalities to pass bills that advance or defend civil liberties and civil rights, and to defeat those that do not. In addition to our mission to defend and advance civil liberties and civil rights, we are committed to:
Family unity should be at the forefront of the state’s goal when recognizing and addressing the collateral consequences incarceration has on children.
The existence of an objective and reviewable record will protect police officers against false accusations. A clear record of what occurred during interviews will also provide transparency in the system, which will increase public trust in law enforcement.
All people deserve the opportunity to have a competent and funded zealous advocate when the state brings a case against them. It is the foundation of our justice system.
SB 778, an expansion of the Certificate of Good Standing Act, removes barriers to housing and employment after incarceration, which is critical to a fair and equitable society. The ACLU of Oregon believes that people with criminal records deserve a chance at true reintegration.
The ACLU of Oregon is a proud member of the Time to Care coaltion.
Note that this bill was previously introduced as HB 3031.
SB 1002 establishes basic checks and balances in the plea negotiation process by protecting fundamental rights, due process, and access to programs designed to reduce recidivism
