The ACLU of Oregon heard from multiple women defense attorneys who experienced retaliation and pay inequity at the Office of Public Defense Services (OPDS). OPDS is responsible for ensuring the constitutional right to public defense for Oregonians who cannot afford it. It is extremely concerning that women attorneys who are versed in the law and vigorous advocates for their clients are expressing significant levels of fear about sharing their concerns about OPDS.
